Empuls provides fully configurable award workflow management, supporting zero to multiple sequential approval levels, threshold-based routing, and structured jury nomination panels so administrators can govern every recognition decision with precision.
Award programs work best when the process matches the significance of the recognition. A spot bonus for going above and beyond in a sprint may need no approval at all, while “Employee of the Year” demands structured nomination, jury scoring, and final moderation. Empuls handles both ends of that spectrum—and everything in between—through a single, flexible workflow engine. Configurable Approval Chains Empuls lets administrators build workflows with zero, one, or multiple sequential approval levels. A zero-level workflow posts the award directly once a manager submits it. A multi-level chain might route through a First-Level Reviewer, then a Jury Panel, and finally a Moderator before the award is issued. Each level is independently configurable, so organisations can match governance requirements to the weight of each award category. Threshold-Based Routing Administrators can set monetary or nomination-based thresholds that determine whether an award requires additional review. An award below a defined value passes straight to final approval, while higher-value recognitions automatically escalate to the next level. Eligibility filters—by role, department, or employment type—can be applied to nominators, nominees, and approvers independently, keeping the process fair and auditable. Jury and Nomination-Based Awards For high-visibility programs such as Leadership Awards or cross-functional recognitions, Empuls supports a structured jury workflow. Nominators submit candidates with written justifications, and a jury panel rates each nominee on a 10-point scale or a binary pass/fail basis, depending on how the award is configured. A moderator then reviews the aggregated scores and makes the final decision. This process integrates cleanly with tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams, where nomination nudges and jury reminders surface directly in the channels employees already use. For organisations running Workday or SAP SuccessFactors, Empuls connects workforce data to automatically enforce eligibility rules without manual list management. Governance and Visibility Controls Advanced settings give administrators fine-grained control over program integrity. Self-nomination can be toggled on or off, and nomination validity periods prevent stale submissions from cluttering the jury queue. Custom questions added to the nomination form ensure evaluators receive the context they need. Visibility settings—public or private—let teams decide whether the nomination pool is open to all employees or restricted to approvers only. Certificates and reward types are also configurable at the workflow level, so every recognition output reflects the program’s intent. Together, these capabilities let People teams run everything from lightweight peer-to-peer recognition to formal annual awards within a single, auditable system.
