Xoxoday Empuls keeps employees and managers informed through two notification channels: email and push notifications. These alerts fire at every meaningful point in the recognition and rewards workflow — from nomination through approval to final award — so no action item falls through the cracks. SMS is not a supported channel at this time. Organisations that rely on mobile-first communication should use push notifications, which deliver in real time to the Xoxoday Empuls mobile app on iOS and Android.

Notifications in Xoxoday Empuls span the full range of award types available on the platform. Whether an employee receives a peer-to-peer Spot Award, a manager-nominated Service Anniversary recognition, or a company-wide Value Badge, the relevant stakeholders receive an alert at each stage. This applies equally to tenure milestones, performance bonuses, and custom award programmes your organisation has configured. Each notification is triggered by the specific stage the award is in — initiated, pending approval, approved, or rejected — so both nominators and recipients always know the current status without having to log in to check.

Approval stage alerts and exceptions

For awards that require single or multi-level approval, Xoxoday Empuls sends a notification to the designated approver as soon as a nomination enters their queue. If an approver does not act within the configured window, an escalation or reminder notification is dispatched according to the rules your administrator has set. Rejected nominations also trigger a notification back to the nominator, including any reason or comment the approver has added. Exception scenarios — such as a nomination that bypasses standard approval because the nominator holds an admin or super-admin role — are also captured in the notification flow, ensuring auditability across every award event.

Integration with your existing tools

Xoxoday Empuls extends its notification reach through integrations with Slack and Microsoft Teams. When connected, award and approval alerts appear directly in the channels your employees already use, removing the need to switch between applications. For organisations using HR systems such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Darwinbox, Xoxoday Empuls syncs employee data so notification routing always reflects current reporting lines and team structures. For example, when a manager in a Slack-connected workspace approves a nomination, the recognised employee receives a push notification in the Empuls app and a Slack message in the same moment — reducing lag and increasing the visibility of the recognition.

Configuring notifications

Notification settings are managed by your Xoxoday Empuls administrator in the platform settings section. Admins can control which events trigger alerts, customise notification copy, and manage integration-level preferences for Slack and Microsoft Teams without requiring any code changes.
