Empuls stores and processes all employee data on AWS, with primary data centers in Mumbai (India) and Oregon (US), and configurable secondary regions for redundancy and data residency compliance.
Empuls runs entirely on Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s most trusted cloud infrastructure providers. This choice underpins Empuls’s commitments to data availability, disaster recovery, and regional data residency — all critical factors for enterprise HR and People teams managing sensitive employee information.

India Region

For organizations headquartered or operating in India, Empuls designates AWS Mumbai as the primary data center. AWS Hyderabad serves as the secondary region, providing redundancy for storage and processing. This dual-region setup means that if the primary Mumbai zone experiences an outage, Hyderabad absorbs workloads without interruption — keeping recognition programs, reward transactions, and engagement surveys running continuously.

United States Region

For US-based deployments, Empuls uses AWS Oregon as the primary region, with AWS Northern Virginia as the secondary. Northern Virginia is one of AWS’s largest and most resilient availability zones globally, giving Empuls customers a robust fallback for continuous operations across time zones.

Configurable to Your Requirements

Empuls’s regional architecture is not one-size-fits-all. Enterprise customers can work with the Empuls team to configure data residency according to specific compliance, legal, or operational requirements. For example, a multinational organization running its core HR stack on SAP SuccessFactors or Darwinbox and integrating Empuls for peer-to-peer recognition can request that all employee data remain within a specific AWS region to satisfy local data protection laws or internal IT governance policies.

Security and Compliance Alignment

Both the India and US deployments are covered under Empuls’s security certifications, including ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II. These certifications validate that data handling, storage, and processing across all AWS regions meet internationally recognized standards. Teams using Empuls alongside productivity tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams can trust that the underlying data infrastructure meets enterprise-grade security requirements, regardless of which region processes their data. Regional data storage configuration is a decision Empuls supports from the outset of onboarding, ensuring compliance is built in — not bolted on. Learn more: Empuls Help Centre — General
